Abstract
The development and progression of tumors is accompanied by derangement of tissue homeostasis with increase in cell population, which results from the imbalance between cell gain by proliferation and cell loss by death. In this context, the
potential of
individual tumors to undergo proliferation and death is one of the most important factors in determining their biological behaviour.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. The proliferative index of retinoblastoma was 21.0¡¾21.1%, correlating with the clinical prognosis (P<0.05) and tumor stage (P<0.0001). Thus, high proliferative index indicated poor prognosis and advanced tumor stage.
